Breakfast in the hotel. We leave Tbilisi and out destination place is the city of Mtskheta, which is located near the capital. Mtskheta is the ancient capital of Georgia. Also, this city is called the “Second Jerusalem” because of the huge number of holy and cultural places. Firstly, we visit the monastery temple of Jvari, from where you can see a stunning view of the fusion of two mountain rivers – Aragvi and Kura, surrounded by majestic mountain peaks.
Then the excursion continues in the city of Mtskheta. In this city we will visit the cathedral Svetitskhoveli declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Afterwards, there will be a lunch in a traditional restaurant of Georgian cuisine – Salobie, where you will have a chance to taste local cuisine – Lobiani and Mtskheti pies. After lunch, we visit Uplistsikhe (trans.: God’s Fortress) – a cave city, one of the first cities in Georgia. The guide will tell you about the history of the city (the entrance to the caves is included in the tour price).
Further, excursion continues in Gori – to the places where famous head of USSR – Stalin grew up.
Return to Tbilisi. Dinner.
